There are several tips on internet marketing:
1) There are several ways of internet marketing, you can either setup a website/blog, you can build a list and market to the list, use AdWords or other advertising methods or latterly you can use social media to market. For a website WordPress is by far the easiest to install in the experience that I have. Video is absolutely key, and this can be a great way of generating traffic whilst putting yourself across in a controlled way.
2) It is important that you identify a niche that is not too competitive. There is nothing worse than spending lots of time working on building a site and then getting no results.
3) Traffic is key – Understand how much traffic there is for the keywords that you are looking to use and then set a realistic target for how much of that traffic you are going to aim for.
4) Keyword rich domain names can help!
5) Split test and split test again! It has been proven time and time again that a small change and movement on a webpage can make a significant difference to the conversion rate. You need the conversion rate to be as high as possible to ensure that you are maximising your opportunity. This is particularly true if you are buying in traffic, through AdWords or other methods.
6) Build a list. If you are planning on being in a particular market place for a period of time building a list of people who are interested in this niche can be an extremely valuable way of communicating with people who are interested in a particular area. Once these people are on a list providing you do not upset them it’s unlikely that many of them will un-subscribe. It is always suggested that you give some things away to assist with building a list, so that may be a report or other item.
7) Use your personality. People buy people fact. Whilst you may have a corporate site, have a blog that lets you run alongside it. The people who have their daily rants are the ones that cause a disturbance and generally generate the most traffic.
