Web Content Management Systems (CMS)

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Web Content Management System (CMS) is a web application designed for creating and managing HTML content–web pages. Web CMS is used to manage a large collection of web resources (text, HTML code, images, PHP scripts, etc). Web CMS functions usually include: content creation, content control, content editing, maintenance functions, and functions special to each CMS. In general, web content management software applications provide authoring tools designed to allow users with little or no knowledge of programming languages or markup languages to create and manage content with relative ease. Therefore you don’t have to know anything about HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, AJAX or other fancy codes.

Web content management systems use a database to store content, metadata, or additional data that might be needed by the system. A web CMS usually contains a presentation layer which displays the content to web-site visitors based on a set of templates. A template is a basic page layout that contains content place holders, page styles and other page data that does not change.

What is Banner Advertising?

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Banner advertising is considered as one of the main advertising methods in online media. But as Web 2.0 becomes more and more popular banner advertising is becoming older and not so effective. Visitors often do not like banner advertisements or any kind of ‘aggressive’ adds. So, maybe, this is the right time to question banner advertising and to try to find some other better advertising methods.

Banner advertising may be good for particular businesses but it is questionable how this type of advertising can get you high conversion rate if your visitors do not want to see those annoying adds. Also, there is always chance that you could actually trigger a contrary effect in your visitors minds and they could begin to hate your products because of annoying banner-adds.

PPC (Pay Per Click) type of advertising is way more effective and more user friendly. Your visitors choose when they are going to click on your adds and they are not forced to watch them or listen if they do not want that.
